Containment creates a physical separation between the air entering IT equipment and the warm air leaving it. Reducing the mixing of these air streams can help your cooling system work more effectively. The appropriate arrangement depends on the rack layout, cooling equipment, available return-air path and building services.

Cold Aisle Containment
A cold aisle system encloses the space at the front of opposing rack rows, typically using end doors and roof panels. It helps keep the cooled supply air available to server intakes rather than allowing it to mix with hot exhaust air.

CAPTURE THE WARM EXHAUST AIR
Hot Aisle Containment
A hot aisle system encloses the warm air leaving the rear of the racks and directs it towards a designed cooling return path. This may involve a ceiling return or an in-row cooling arrangement, depending on the facility.

FLEXIBLE COMPONENT-BASED OPTIONS
Modular Aisle Containment
For suitable rack rows, modular components provide an alternative to a fully bespoke enclosure. Options include rack-top baffles, aisle-end doors and adjustable rack-gap infill panels. They can support phased airflow improvements in existing installations.

Should we choose hot or cold aisle containment?
There is no single answer for every facility. The right choice depends on how cooling air reaches the equipment, where warm air returns, the rack arrangement and the scope for changes. Send us your layout so the options can be reviewed.
Can containment be added around existing cabinets?
Retrofit arrangements can be designed around existing rack rows, including differing cabinet heights. Suitability needs to be checked against the actual dimensions, clearances and building services.
Can I obtain a price without a complete design?
